Visas for International Students at TSU-IC

International students wishing to study at Thaksin University International College (TSU-IC) must comply with Thai immigration laws and obtain the appropriate visa. Below is important information regarding the visa process and requirements as per Thai regulations.

Non-Immigrant ED Visa (Education Visa)

To study in Thailand, international students must apply for a Non-Immigrant ED Visa. This visa is issued for students enrolled in accredited Thai educational institutions, including TSU-IC.

Visa Application Process

Acceptance Letter: Upon being accepted into a program at TSU-IC, the student will receive an official admission letter. This letter is required to apply for a student visa.

Required Documents:

1.Valid Passport: Must be valid for at least 6 months from the intended entry date into Thailand.

2.Admission Letter: Issued by TSU-IC confirming enrollment.

3.Visa Application Form: This form is available at the Thai Embassy or Consulate.

4.Financial Proof: Evidence of sufficient financial resources to cover tuition fees, living expenses, and other costs in Thailand.

5.Passport-sized Photographs: Usually, two passport-sized photographs are required.

6.Visa Fee: The visa fee must be paid at the time of application (fee amount may vary by nationality).

Visa Submission: Students should submit their visa application to the Thai Embassy or Consulate in their home country. The application processing time can take anywhere from 5 to 15 business days depending on the embassy.

Visa Issuance

Once the application is approved, students will be issued a Non-Immigrant ED Visa. This visa typically allows for a single-entry stay of up to 90 days upon arrival in Thailand.

Visa Extensions

After entering Thailand, international students will need to extend their visa to continue their studies. Extensions can be done at the Thai Immigration Office and are subject to approval.

Extension Duration: Extensions are granted based on the length of the student’s program. Extensions are typically given for up to 1 year.

  Required Documents for Extension:

Passport with current Non-Immigrant ED Visa.

Confirmation of enrollment from TSU-IC for the upcoming semester.

  Completed visa extension application form.

Payment of visa extension fee (fees may vary).

Extension Procedure: Students must apply for a visa extension at least 30 days before their current visa expires to avoid penalties or complications.

 Multiple-Entry Visa
In some cases, international students who need to travel abroad during their studies may apply for a Multiple-Entry Non-Immigrant ED Visa. This visa allows students to leave and re-enter Thailand without requiring a new visa each time. To apply for a multiple-entry visa, students must submit additional documentation such as flight details and proof of need for re-entry, such as participation in an academic conference, internship, or family emergency.

Work While Studying
Under Thai law, international students holding a Non-Immigrant ED Visa are generally not permitted to work in Thailand without prior permission from Thai Immigration. Students may be allowed to work part-time or participate in internships only with specific approval from the Thai Immigration Office. International students must seek written permission for any form of paid or unpaid work during their studies.

Dependent Visas
International students who wish to bring family members (spouse or children) to Thailand during their studies may apply for a Non-Immigrant O Visa for dependents. This visa allows family members to stay in Thailand while the student completes their studies. Dependents are not allowed to work while holding this visa.

Exit and Re-Entry Permit
If a student needs to leave Thailand temporarily (for travel or other personal reasons), they must apply for an Exit and Re-Entry Permit at the Thai Immigration Office. Students with a single-entry visa who leave Thailand must apply for a re-entry permit to maintain their student visa status upon return. For students with a multiple-entry visa, the re-entry permit allows them to leave and return to Thailand multiple times without invalidating their visa.

Visa Support Services at TSU-IC
The International Relations Office (IRO) of Thaksin University offers visa support to help international students comply with Thai immigration regulations. The IRO is available to assist students with visa applications, extensions, re-entry permits, and other visa-related issues.
